The expertise of his research group relates primarily to the study of the interactions between bacteria and fungi of veterinary and zoonotic importance with their hosts and environment. Other studies include optimisation of diagnostic bacteriology andmycology, antimicrobial resistance and taxonomy. The taxonomic line of research is used as an auxiliary to the study of bacterium/fungus-host/environment interactions: characterization of zoonotic bacteria/fungi and bacteria/fungi that cause disease in animals.
