Description
The research of the Veterinary Epidemiology is focussed along two research lines. The first research line is focusing on the prevention and control of epidemic or economical important diseases such as classical swine fever, avian influenza, and BVD. The second research line is focussing on the prevention and control of zoonotic diseases and the public health impact of these diseases. Within this research line, special emphasis is put on antimicrobial use and antimicrobial resistance in animal production. Both research lines are coming together when studying possible preventive measures by focussing on animal disease prevention and herd health measures and biosecurity. The performed research is mainly focussing on observational studies on the basis of which quantitative information is gathered on infections, transmission, prevention, ... In all research, the focus is put on clinical and practical relevance. These topics are studied both in a national and international context."
