Description
The research field of the Tissue Engineering Group covers cell/biomaterial interactions (including cytotoxicity and biocompatibility testing) and creation of cellular and cell/biomaterial constructs for regenerative and tissue engineering purposes.
The group is skilled in culturing diverse cell types, including mesenchymal, fat derived and embryonic stem cells under static and dynamic conditions. Biomaterials for soft and hard tissue engineering are under investigation with focus on tailor made, well defined, patient specific constructs using a Bioplotter device. The group is specialized in cartilage/bone, cardiac and hepatic tissue engineering. New strategies to obtain vessel containing constructs have been started.
