This infrastructure was funded by FWO Flanders under the call for medium-sized research infrastructure 2021-2022. Given the multidisciplinarity of the research proposed by the applicant consortium and the large number of researchers involved, it is estimated that the infrastructure will be used almost full-time for this purpose. The technical direction, coordination and operation of the device will be managed by the highly qualified technical staff present in the research group of the main promoter. Within the consortium, agreements are made regarding the reservation of the aircraft, and maintenance and repair costs are divided among the various partners in proportion to the time the aircraft has been used by them.

The limited remaining time (< 10%) can be used for collaboration with other research groups at Ghent University, estimated from 2 years after installation. After about 3 years of focusing on the execution of the scientific programme, the infrastructure will also be made available to a limited (but probably increasing) extent for project-based scientific collaborations with external research groups.

Research groups wishing to use the infrastructure will have to make a financial contribution, in accordance with the agreements made within the MSsmall expertise centre of Ghent University.
