The Laboratory for Molecular Entomology and Bee Pathology (Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology at the Faculty of Science) is the driving force behind HoneyBee Valley, a collaborative platform that aims to tackle the problem of bee mortality.
Our vision is that the decline of honey bees is a multifactorial problem that can only be solved through a multidisciplinary approach. To achieve this, we need a barrier-free platform where all parties involved can easily participate and contribute to the solution for bee mortality from their specific discipline and strengths.
The platform aims to be the central nerve centre for all issues related to honey bees nationwide. The centre should be a source of inspiration for and by different groups and disciplines that are working to find solutions to known and yet-to-be-discovered problems. The platform serves as an exchange mechanism for sharing information and results across disciplines and (inter)nationally. The platform also provides access to an apiary, various analysis options, high-tech equipment and laboratories.
In short, the platform aims to create a dynamic environment where talented individuals can meet and be encouraged to seek solutions together. A place where like-minded people come together to collaborate and share information.
