CRIG researchs groups have a wide variety of expertises, and focus on different research domains that are relevant in cancer research. Cancer research is accelerated by joining forces and cross-fertilization between different disciplines.
Neuroblastoma is an extracranial solid tumor originating in the sympathetic nervous system. It is the most common childhood tumor after leukemia and brain tumors, and is almost never diagnosed in adults. Neuroblastoma most commonly arises in the adrenal gland. Several CRIG research groups have a special focus on this childhood cancer: https://www.crig.ugent.be/en/research/neuroblastoma
The Paediatric Haematology-Oncology Department at UZGent is a specialised centre of excellence for the treatment of cancer and blood disorders in children: https://uzgent.be/patient/zoek-een-arts-of-dienst/pediatrische-hemato-oncologie
