I am a researcher at the Sustainable Thermo-Fluid Energy Systems (STFES) research group, in the Applied Thermodynamics & Heat Transfer (ATHT) team, led by prof. Michel De Paepe and prof. Steven Lecompte. Currently, I am working on my PhD under supervision of prof. Michel De Paepe and dr. Wim Beyne. My PhD focusses on the characterization of the melting process of Phase Change Materials (PCMs) for latent thermal energy storage (LTES) applications. I perform both experimental and numerical studies, in order to gain more insight into the melting process of these materials, with the final goal to develop a generally applicable characterization and design method for LTES systems. The ATHT-team has worked on this topic for several years now and has established fruitful collaborations with other research groups. Additional to the research that is part of my PhD, I am also involved in various industrial projects, with national and international partners. Furthermore, I teach the course 'Thermal Installations' in the Mechanical Energy Engineering and Chemical Engineering masters. I am also involved in the project course of the 3rd bachelor year of the students Electromechanical Engineering: 'Vakoverschrijdend project'.
