Bio
Kim Beernaert is assistant professor and senior researcher at the End-of-Life Care Research Group (Vrije Universiteit Brussel & Ghent University). She chairs the research program "Palliative Care for People with Cancer." Her main research interest lies in improving clinical practice in palliative and end-of-life care for people with cancer and non-cancer conditions and their families, with special attention to children and adolescents.
She has experience in setting up and analysing diverse research methods, including qualitative interviews and focus groups, cross-sectional surveys, population-based studies, administrative database analyses, (cluster) randomized controlled trials, and implementation research.
Kim supervises various projects in palliative care, focusing on the integration of palliative care and the improvement of clinical practice for people with cancer and non-cancer conditions, infants, and children. She strongly values making scientific work accessible and enjoys collaborating with relevant stakeholders from clinical practice. Please feel free to contact her if you are interested.
