Bio
As a Flanders Research Foundation (FWO) Senior Fellow at Ghent University, my academic work focuses on the intersection of law, human rights and global economic dynamics. Since 2023, I have also served as the Lecturer Coordinator for the Ghent University LLM Advanced Human Rights Course, which analyzes how human rights are advanced and contested in transnational litigation.
My research is driven by a profound curiosity about the global economy, with a particular focus on the role of courts and tribunals in transnational governance. This passion guides my scholarship and reflects my commitment to understanding and shaping the legal frameworks that govern international economic interactions.
With a Ph.D. in Law and a Doctoris Europaei from the University of Verona, Italy, my academic journey has spanned multiple jurisdictions. I've taught and conducted research in Ecuador, the United States, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Ukraine and Russia. Before I joined Ghent University, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Turin, Italy, and a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute for International Law in Heidelberg, Germany.
Beyond academia, I am an active contributor to the legal community. I serve on the European Society of International Law (ESIL) Interest Group committee on International Economic Law, and on the Academic Advisory Board of the International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications (INATBA). These roles allow me to advance the discourse on international economic law and its interaction with emerging technologies.
At Ghent University, I collaborate with esteemed research centers, including the Human Rights Center, the Ghent Rolin-Jaequemyns International Law Institute (GRILI), and the Ghent European Law Institute (GELI). Together, we strive to make significant contributions to the field of international economic law.
