Dr Jakob Van Acker is a postdoctoral researcher and team leader of ELOHA (Equal Lifelong Oral Health for All) within the Department of Oral Health Sciences at Ghent University, specializing in paediatric and special care dentistry. His work combines clinical care, teaching and translational research, with a mission to improve oral health-related quality of life for children and vulnerable populations. His research focuses on paediatric dental radiology and radioprotection, innovative restorative materials, and oral health promotion through community-based projects and cross-sectional studies in Flanders. His findings have been incorporated into European clinical guidelines issued by the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry (EAPD) and have informed national policy recommendations on oral care. Dr Van Acker is an active member of the Belgian, European and International Academies of Paediatric Dentistry and the International Association of Dento-Maxillo-Facial Radiology. He serves as keynote and pre-congress speaker at international conferences, and his research has been published in leading journals including Dentomaxillofacial Radiology, Clinical Oral Investigations, European Archives of Paediatric Dentistry and BMC Oral Health.
