Bio
Helena Du Cheyne obtained her Master’s degree in Theoretical and Experimental Psychology in 2018 at Ghent University. In 2020, she completed a second Master’s degree in Conflict and Development at the same university. Since April 2023, Helena has been working as a doctoral researcher at the End-of-Life Care Research Group (https://www.endoflifecare.be/). She is involved in the EU NAVIGATE project (https://eunavigate.com/), a European initiative aiming to implement a navigation program in six countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Ireland, and Portugal) to support home-dwelling older adults (70+) with cancer and their caregivers. The program involves trained volunteers who visit clients every two weeks, offering support for practical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs. By bridging the gap between local services and clients, the project strives to enhance the well-being of older people with cancer. The research is designed as a pragmatic randomized controlled trial (RCT).
