Focus: AcademicSince late 2015, I have been active in the debate concerning the desirability and the execution of the Belgian law providing for Euthanasia in cases of unbearable psychic suffering where the patient is judged “untreatable”. I co- authored the original pieces that opened the debate in its current vehemence, and have responded to reactions in press and in debates. The debate received considerable international attention, as it was picked up by papers and news channels throughout Europe, and even in the USA (for instance by the New York Times).
